MEDICAL MALPRACTICE
Lives Affected 10 Rules Resources & Links
  1. The first thing you must do before visiting a doctor or hospital is research to see if there are any suits filed against that doctor or hospital.
  2. If you already feel you are a victim of medical malpractice, then don’t let that waiver you signed keep you from pursuing action against the doctor or hospital.
  3. If you believe you are a victim of medical malpractice, seek the services of another medical doctor to treat your injury or illness.
  4. Be open and honest with your physician about your injury or illness, including your past medical history.
  5. Keep a journal or diary describing and dating each of your doctor visits.
  6. Write down the names, addresses and telephone numbers of any witnesses.
  7. Keep a journal or diary of all out-of-pocket expenses.
  8. Keep all medical records and bills you may have received.
  9. Keep all health insurance documents you have received, such as explanations of benefits (EOBs).
  10. Seek the services of a medical malpractice attorney right away. In Florida, you have only two years from the date of the malpractice to file a lawsuit.
